Haustiere verkörpern Sehnsucht, Bedürfnis und Statussymbol zugleich. Einst als reiner Luxus, heut als Kompensation von sozialer Distanz sind Haustiere seit der Industrialisierung oft der letzte Bezug des Menschen zur Natur. Eine Katze stellt eine Verbindung zwischen dem Außen einer anonymen Stadt und dem privaten, geschützten Heim her. Sie wandelt zwischen zwei Welten, baut Kontakt auf oder meidet ihn. Nähe und Distanz der dokumentierten Begegnung von Observatorin und observierter Katze, spiegeln sich hier auch im Ausstellungsraum zwischen Betrachter*in und Werk wieder. Je nach Blickwinkel verschwimmt das Bild in einem Flimmern aus Linien, während mit genügend Abstand sich die Tiefe der Details offenbart.

Pets embody longing, need, and status symbol all at once. Once considered a pure luxury, today they serve as compensation for social distance; since industrialization, pets have often become humanity’s last connection to nature. A cat creates a link between the outside world of an anonymous city and the private, protected home. It moves between two worlds, sometimes seeking contact, sometimes avoiding it. The closeness and distance in the documented encounter between observer and observed cat are also reflected in the exhibition space between viewer and artwork. Depending on the perspective, the image dissolves into a flicker of lines, while with enough distance, the depth of detail is revealed.
